Grace-filled yoga {creating space & finding freedom} body | soul | spirit
So now, may the God of peace make you His own completely and set you apart from the rest. May your spirit, soul, and body be preserved, kept intact and wholly free from any sort of blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus the Anointed. For the God who calls you is faithful, and He can be trusted to make it so. 1Thessalonians 5:23-24 VOICE
Custom Events
If you'd like to integrate grace-filled yoga into a special occasion, conference or retreat - I'd love to work with you to customize your event and offer a unique experience!
Wherever you are on your faith or yoga journey - you are welcome here! I invite you to come explore, learn, grow and be challenged. We are all on this journey together! The word yoga means to unite or to yoke together - mind, body, breath. For a Christian practicing yoga, "yoking" refers to uniting our body, breath and spirit with Christ as we move and breathe and meditate on God's Word.
**I teach yoga in both secular and faith-based settings - while all of my classes flow out of who I am as a Christ-follower, not all classes are overtly Christian.
Class Descriptions
Yoga: Simply stated. This vinyasa flow inspired class will help you to unite your body and breath as we move and breathe. This class is adaptable for beginners (giving modifications where necessary) as well as those desiring a more intermediate/advanced practice.
Selah Yoga: Selah Yoga is an invitation to grace-filled, Christ-centered yoga. Classes include prayer, worship music, and a vinyasa flow rooted in scripture. This class is adaptable for beginners (giving modifications where necessary) as well as those desiring a more intermediate/advanced practice, with the flows moving participants on and off the floor throughout the class. The true meaning of Selah in the Bible is a mystery - a Hebrew word found primarily in the Psalms. Some scholars interpret it to mean pause, reflect, rest and exalt. Selah invites us to take a reflective pause...to notice, enjoy and exalt the goodness of our God.
Chair Yoga: This is a gentle practice in which postures are performed while seated and/or with the support of a chair. This class is designed to help make yoga accessible at every life stage; for those who may be experiencing limited mobility or simply desiring a gentler practice. The poses are adaptations of modern yoga poses which will help to create space and bring freedom to your body, soul and spirit. Gentle strength training may also be incorporated into the practice.

Testimonials
Holy yoga was one of the neatest experiences in my walk with Christ. Being united in my spirit, mind and body with other believers was so peaceful. Having such focused time to meditate on the word while stretching my body at the same time was truly worship. I appreciated being in a class where there were many varying levels with each pose. And probably one of my very favorite parts was doing a Bible study after the yoga session and growing in our relationships together. I can’t wait for the next class. --Joni Pine, Director of Connection, Prairie Ridge Church, Ankeny, IA
I had never done yoga. Learning the positions and stretching my body was work and a great challenge. Brandy tied in great Christian music and Scripture, which made it a wonderful experience. I left feeling ready to face the day physically and spiritually. Pushing my body and connecting to Christ gave me a strength and peace. It made me see if facing something difficult, if my body can be challenged - I can spiritually and mentally face it too. Being centered on Christ and his word made the experience not only uplifting but any time focused on God's word gives a peace and spiritual growth. —Deb Culligan, 3rd Grade Teacher, Des Moines, IA
I have practiced Holy Yoga with Brandy Young for one year and my life has been greatly enriched by it. Holy Yoga has not only improved my flexibility and core strength, but it has also drawn me closer to Christ. I have long felt that yoga was something akin to embodied prayer, but it wasn’t until I took Holy Yoga from Brandy that this aspect was fully realized. Holy Yoga does a beautiful job of integrating scripture and devotional components so that the entire experience becomes worship that draws the participants close to Christ. In my experience, Holy Yoga, to echo what Paul says in Romans 12:2, is a presentation of "your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” --Rev. Bill O’Connell, Lead Pastor, St Paul Presbyterian Church of Johnston, IA
We all live in a crazy, non-stop world and it seems that you really have to make an effort to slow down and take care of yourself. I love Holy Yoga because I feel like I am taking care of my body, mind and soul at the same time. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body." I feel that participating in Holy Yoga and focusing on whatever Bible verse or devotional the instructor has, brings me closer to God and it's the perfect thing to do to take care of this body of mine, which God gave me. —Charissa Peters, Office Coordinator, St Paul Presbyterian Church of Johnston, IA
